Where The Heart Is movie review

Where The Heart Is (2000)

Novalee Nation (Natalie Portman) is a pregnant girl from Tennessee. In the beginning of the movie, she is heading to California with her boyfriend Willie Jack Pickens. It's obvious to tell that he isn't too thrilled at the thought of soon having to be a father, and that he feels like he is trapped in his relationship. In Sequoyah, Oklahoma, Novalee asks Willie Jack to stop at a Wal-Mart in order for her to be able to use the restroom. While she is inside, he drives off and leaves her stranded. She has no job and no money. But, Novalee secretly manages to live in the Wal-Mart until her daughter Americus is born roughly six weeks later. Her daughter is then known as the Wal-Mart baby. With a little help from two friendly strangers, Novalee attempts to rebuild her life. Overall, I thought that this was a cute movie. Natalie Portman was an excellent choice. In any movie that I've seen her in, she always manages to portray the character perfectly. Overall, it was a very emotional and moving movie. I wouldn't mind watching this movie again.

I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.
