Well, I did it. I managed to successfully watch 100 movies from April 3, 2010, to December 31, 2010, that I had never seen before. I have a sneaky suspicion that only a very select few actually read / cared about my movie blogs, but that's okay. I made a goal for myself, and I was able to achieve it. By doing this goal, I was hoping that I would be more open towards watching various movies that I have never seen before. Anyway, thanks to those select few who actually cared enough to read my random movie blogs.

Silk movie review
December 29, 2010 - #100/100
Silk (2007)
In 1862, the son of the mayor of a French village, Herve Joncour (Michael Pitt), is invited by the silk entrepreneur Baldabiou (Alfred Molina) to travel to Africa to bring healthy silkworm eggs for his factory. Herve first marries his beloved bride Helene Joncour (Keira Knightley), and then he travels in the long journey. He succeeds, makes a substantial fortune, and is invited to travel again to trade silkworm eggs in a longer journey to Japan. He is received by the local baron in a secret spot and falls in love for his Chinese concubine. Herve returns to Helene, but remains obsessed with the concubine. One annoyance about this movie is that, when he travels to Japan, the people speak Japanese, but the movie fails to supply the viewer with subtitles. Therefore, I had no idea what they were saying. Another annoyance is the fact that the pace of the movie is extremely slow. It takes a long time for things to occur, which causes the viewer to lose interest. So, I didn't think that this movie was that great.
I gave this movie 3/10 stars on imdb.com.

The King's Speech movie review
December 27, 2010 - #99/100
The King's Speech (2010)
The King's Speech tells the story of the man who became King George VI (Colin Firth), the father of Queen Elizabeth II. After his brother abdicates, George ('Bertie') reluctantly assumes the throne. Plagued by a dreaded stammer and considered unfit to be king, Bertie engages the help of an unorthodox speech therapist named Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Throughout many years, Bertie's wife, Queen Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), and his speech therapist help him to find the courage to overcome his stammer. Through a set of unexpected techniques, and as a result of an unlikely friendship, Bertie is able to find his voice and boldly lead the country through war. At a first glance, the movie may seem to be slow paced, but this idea is masked by the wonderful acting and storyline. It is a very touching and inspiring story, which will continue to inspire you each time you think about it. I had to drive 45 minutes to an hour just to find a theater that was showing this movie, and I can definitely say that I was not disappointed at all. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD so I can watch it again.
I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.

Chicago movie review
December 26, 2010 - #98/100
Chicago (2002)
Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is the sexy vaudeville star who murders her husband and sister after finding them in bed together. Roxie (Renee Zellweger) is the wannabe vaudeville star who kills her lover after finding out he was never going to make her famous. Enter Billy Flynn (Richard Gere), the greasy lawyer whose goal is not only to have his clients acquitted, but to make them legal legends. Billy, who apparently likes Roxie's angle (He tried to kill me) better than Velma's (I blacked out and can't remember a thing). With help from Matron Mama Morton (Queen Latifah), both women fight for the spot as Chicago's most famed murderess, but there's only room for one legend. To be quite honest, I had no idea what this movie was going to be about. I knew that it was a musical, but I didn't know that it was based around murders. The songs were great, the dancing was great, and the acting was great. Overall, I thought that this was a very good movie.
I gave this movie 9/10 stars on imdb.com.

Get Him to the Greek movie review
December 20, 2010 - #97/100
Get Him to the Greek (2010)
English rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) relapses into drugs and booze after a break up and a disastrous record. In L.A., Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) works for a record company. Aaron's boss gives him a career making task - to bring Aldous from London to L.A. for a concert in 72 hours. That day, Aaron's girlfriend Daphne tells him she wants to finish her medical residency in Seattle. Aaron's sure this ends their relationship. In London, things aren't much better: Aldous delays their departure several times, plies Aaron with vices, and alternates between bad behavior and trenchant observations. Overall, I thought that it was a decent movie. I've never been a huge fan of these types of comedies, but I didn't think that it was as bad as some of them that I have seen in the past.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

Year of the Dog movie review
December 14, 2010 - #96/100
Year of the Dog (2007)
Peggy (Molly Shannon) is single, childless, in her 40s, and is a lonely executive assistant. Her dog Pencil is the love of her life, and when he dies after eating some sort of toxin, Peggy's life spins out of her control. A friendly staff member at her vet's calls about an abused dog, which he recommends she adopt. She adopts the dog, and also finds herself attracted to this fellow. She becomes a vegan and even supports animal-rights causes. Saving dogs and other animals become such a passion that her mental health and her job may be in danger. I didn't think that this movie was as funny as I was anticipating, especially since Molly Shannon is the main actress, and she generally takes on funny roles. Perhaps I didn't understand the true meaning of the movie, but I just didn't like it that much. I had a hard time trying to stay concentrated. Therefore, this is probably not a movie that I'd like to watch again.
I gave this movie 4/10 stars on imdb.com.

Something's Gotta Give movie review
December 13, 2010 - #95/100
Something's Gotta Give (2003)
Sixty-three year old Harry (Jack Nicholson) has a reputation for dating girls a third his age. While taking Marin (Amanda Peet), his latest fling, back to her beach house for the weekend, he is taken aback when her mother Erica (Diane Keaton) unexpectedly turns up. From the very beginning, it is easy to tell that Erica doesn't care much for Harry. Suffering a heart attack while romancing Marin, Harry finds himself housebound with Erica, which turns out to be his only companion. As they grudgingly get to know each other something starts to stir, though as the hospital doctor, named Julian (Keanu Reeves), who treated him has taken a shine to Erica, Harry could have serious competition. Overall, I thought that the acting was pretty good, and the storyline managed to keep my attention. Personally I feel that Nancy Meyers usually tends to write intriguing story lines, such as Father of the Bride, The Holiday, It's Complicated, etc. Anyway, I thought that it was a pretty good movie, and I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie review
December 12, 2010 - #94/100
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010)
Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes) Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace (Will Poulter), where they meet up with Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship called The Dawn Treader. Along the way, they encounter a strange fog, which seems to be causing issues in Narnia. In order to get rid of the fog, they must locate the seven original Narnia swords, which were bestowed to seven Lords. So, it then becomes a quest to find the seven Lords, and to place the seven swords at Aslan's table in order to get rid of the strange fog. Overall, I think I liked the two previous Narnia movies better. But, I think that's mainly due to the fact that I thought that the two older Pevensie children were good actors, and they only make short appearances in the third movie. Even though I prefer the other movies to this one, I still thought that it was an entertaining movie. Sure, the acting wasn't as great, but the storyline managed to keep my attention. Therefore, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Lady and the Tramp movie review
December 11, 2010 - #93/100
Lady and the Tramp (1955)
Lady is a pampered Cocker Spaniel who lives in the ritzy part of town. Everything is great until Jim Dear and Darling, who are Lady's owners, have a baby. Jim Dear and Darling take a vacation, so Aunt Sarah and her two scheming Siamese cats come to stay and take care of the baby. Lady is thought to be vicious and is muzzled and put outside. Tramp comes to her rescue. Lady runs away with him only to be caught by the dogcatcher. Once Lady is rescued from the pound by Aunt Sarah, she is angry with Tramp. But, many various things occur, and Tramp eventually gets caught by the dogcatcher. It is then time for Lady to figure out a way to save him. Overall, I thought that it was a pretty cute movie. After all, it is considered to be a Disney classic. But, when compared to other Disney classics, I can think of a few others that I prefer over this movie. Even though I would choose others over this one, I still wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood movie review
December 10, 2010 - #92/100
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002)
Playwright Siddalee Walker (Sandra Bullock), on the verge of opening a new play, gives a magazine interview in which she discusses her unhappy childhood. Her mother is furious and cuts her off. Her mother's friends, who formed a secret society called the Ya-Ya Sisterhood during their childhood days, kidnap Siddalee from her New York apartment and take her home to Louisiana, where they explain why her mother mistreated her with help from the secret Ya-Ya scrapbook, and many various flashbacks. Personally, I had an extremely hard time focusing on this movie. I remember many years ago trying to watch it, but I only managed to watch 30 minutes of it before falling asleep. To me, the storyline was not intriguing at all. In all honesty, it's hard for me to even explain what this movie is even about because I had such a difficult time trying to focus, but failed in doing so. I think it's safe to assume that I don't plan on watching this movie ever again.
I gave this movie 2/10 stars on imdb.com.

A Guy Thing movie review
December 3, 2010 - #91/100
A Guy Thing (2003)
When Paul (Jason Lee) wakes up the morning after his bachelor party, he finds himself in bed with a strange woman named Becky (Julia Stiles). Paul presumes that he must have cheated on his fiancée named Karen (Selma Blair). Therefore, guilt leads him to try to cover it up within the week before the wedding. But, of course, many various things occur. At a party that is being held for Paul and Karen, Paul learns that Becky is Karen's cousin. Also, after spending some more time with Becky, Paul realizes that he has feelings for her. He then needs to figure out whether he wants to be with Becky or with Karen. Overall, it was a decent movie. The plot didn't seem to be fully developed, and it wasn't exactly as funny as I thought it was going to be, but it wasn't that bad. It managed to keep me entertained.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Bridges of Madison County movie review
December 1, 2010 - #90/100
The Bridges of Madison County (1995)
The path of Francesca Johnson's (Meryl Streep) future seems destined when an unexpected fork in the road causes her to question everything she had come to expect from life. While her husband and children are away at the state fair in the summer of 1965, Robert Kincaid (Clint Eastwood) happens turn into the Johnson farm and asks Francesca for directions to Roseman Bridge. Francesca later learns that he was in Iowa on an assignment from National Geographic magazine. At first, she is reluctant, but she eventually agrees to show him to the bridge. Eventually, she falls in love with him, and has a brief affair with him. But, she doesn't go with him because she doesn't want to leave her family. Once she dies, journals are found by her children, explaining everything that happened with Robert. She leaves a special request in her will, and her children must decide whether to honor their mother's final wishes or not. Overall, I thought that the movie was pretty good. Parts of it seemed to move kind of slow, but I thought that Meryl Streep did an outstanding job, as usual.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

Adventureland movie review
November 22, 2010 - #89/100
Adventureland (2009)
In 1987, James Brennan's (Jesse Eisenberg) dreams of a summer European tour before studying at an Ivy League school in New York City are ruined after his parents have a severe career setback. As a result, James must get a summer job to cover his upcoming expenses at the decrepit local amusement park, Adventureland, where he falls in love with a witty co-worker, Emily Lewin (Kristen Stewart). In that bizarrely shady workplace, James and his fellow coworkers have unforgettable and painful learning experiences about life, love, and trust. Towards the end of the movie, James discovers what he truly values. Most of the trailers depicted this movie as being a comedy, but I'd probably classify it as a romantic drama more than I would a comedy because there appeared to be very few comedic parts. I thought that the acting was good. Even Kristen Stewart managed to not really get on my nerves that much, which is saying a lot. Overall, I actually thought that this was a pretty good movie. I don't regret watching it, but if I were to watch it again, it probably wouldn't be anytime soon.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 movie review
November 22, 2010 - #88/100
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010)
Voldemort's (Ralph Fiennes) power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes in order to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned. I'm an avid Harry Potter fan, so of course I loved this movie. I thought that it followed the book very well, but managed to skip over some of the parts of the book that tend to drag out (for example, most of the tent / forest scenes in the book). It has been nice to watch Dan, Rupert, and Emma develop throughout the years, and it seems as if Dan has finally learned how to properly cry! Thank god. It was painful having to watch him fake cry in the 3rd and 4th movies. Anyway, I definitely loved this movie, and I can't wait to see the final installment because I have a feeling that it will end up being the best and most thrilling Harry Potter movie yet.
I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.

Sherlock Holmes movie review
November 21, 2010 - #87/100
Sherlock Holmes (2009)
After finally catching serial killer and occult "sorcerer" Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and his assistant Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) can close yet another successful case. But when Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, Holmes must take up the hunt once again. Contending with his partner's new fiancee and the dimwitted head of Scotland Yard, the dauntless detective must unravel the clues that will lead him into a twisted web of murder, deceit, and black magic - and the deadly embrace of temptress Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams). I've never really been a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, or Robert Downey Jr., but I thought that this movie was pretty good. Even though I thought that it was good, it's still not really the type of movie that I generally like to watch over and over. So, once was enough for me.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.
Sherlock Holmes (2009)
After finally catching serial killer and occult "sorcerer" Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and his assistant Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) can close yet another successful case. The First Wives Club movie review
November 17, 2010 - #86/100
The First Wives Club (1996)
After years of helping their husbands climb the ladder of success, three wives, Brenda Cushman (Bette Midler), Elise Elliot (Goldie Hawn), and Annie Paradis (Diane Keaton) have been dumped for newer, curvier models. But the trio is determined to turn their pain into gain. They come up with a cleverly devious plan to hit their ex-husbands where it really hurts - in the wallet. Throughout the rest of the movie, the wives get mad, get even and get it all. Justice has seldom been so sweet, orr so much fun. Personally, the acting was very good, but I thought that parts of the movie tended to drag on a bit. Despite the feeling that parts of the movie dragged a bit, I still rather enjoyed it. Being a woman myself, I guess it's nice to see women take over, and succeed in doing so.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Grown Ups movie review
November 12, 2010 - #85/100
Grown Ups (2010)
After their high school basketball coach passes away, five good friends (Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider), who happen to be former teammates, reunite for a Fourth of July holiday weekend. To be quite honest, it was hard to come up with a storyline for this particular movie. Nothing monumental took place, and that one sentence basically sums up the entire movie. Anyway, I regretfully feel as if Adam Sandler's career is slowly taking a turn for the worst. Most of his movies, recently, have been pretty horrible. It seems as if he tries too hard to make a movie funny, which then just makes it seem as if it is a stupid comedy. I was actually relieved when this movie ended because I didn't really find that many parts of it to be funny and entertaining.
I gave this movie 2/10 stars on imdb.com.

Stepmom movie review
November 10, 2010 - #84/100
Stepmom (1998)
Anna (Jena Malone) and Ben (Liam Aiken), the two children of Jackie (Susan Sarandon) and Luke (Ed Harris), have to cope with the fact that their parents divorced and that there is a new woman in their father's life: Isabel (Julia Roberts), a successful photographer. She does her best to treat the kids in a way that makes them still feel at home when being with their dad, but also loves her work and does not plan to give it up. But Jackie, a full-time mother, regards Isabel's efforts as offensively insufficient. She can't understand how work can be so important to her, but how the kids can also be equally as important. The conflict between them is deepened by the sudden diagnose of cancer, which might may be deadly for Jackie. They all have to learn a little in order to grow together. Overall, I thought that it was a pretty heartwarming movie. Parts of it seemed to be realistic, seeing as how cancer is something that ends up being the demise of many people in the world today. The cast was practically flawless, especially Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. Overall, it was a very moving film, and I wouldn't mind watching it again.

Thelma and Louise movie review
November 9, 2010 - #83/100
Thelma & Louise (1991)
Louise Sawyer (Susan Sarandon) is working in a fast food restaurant as a waitress and has some problems with her friend Jimmy, who, as a musician, is always on the road. Thelma (Geena Davis) is married to Darryl, who likes his wife to stay quiet in the kitchen so that he can watch football on TV. One day they decide to break out of their normal life by taking a weekend road trip. Mainly, it was Louise's idea, and Thelma ends up tagging along, without getting permission from Darryl because she knew that he would refuse to let her go. Their journey, however, takes a turn for the worse when Louise kills a man who threatens to rape Thelma. They decide to go to Mexico, but soon are hunted by American police. Even though the movie is mostly considered to be a drama/thriller, it does have its funny moments. Also, I thought that Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis did an amazing job portraying loyal best friends throughout the entire movie. Both of the actresses managed to keep the movie entertaining, and suspenseful, throughout the entire thing.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Stepford Wives movie review
November 8, 2010 - #82/100
The Stepford Wives (2004)
Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman), a wildly successful president of a TV Network, experiences a series of shocking events, which causes her to suffer from a nervous breakdown. She then decides to move with her husband, Walter (Matthew Broderick), and the rest of her family to an upper-class and very modern planned community of Stepford, Connecticut. Once there, she becomes good friends with Bobbie Markowitz (Bette Midler), a jewish writer who's also a recovering alcoholic. Together they find out, much to their growing stupor and-then horror, that all the housewives in town are strangely blissful, and somehow...doomed. What is really going on behind the closed doors of the Stepford Men's Association and the Stepford Day Spa? I've never seen the older version of this movie, so the entire movie was a complete surprised to me. But, the ending of this movie just seemed completely ridiculous in every possible way. I didn't know whether to laugh, or just turn the television off. Generally, I am a fan of Nicole Kidman. But this movie, sad to say, is definitely not one of Nicole's good movies. I think it is safe for me to say that I will never watch this movie again.

Mona Lisa Smile movie review
November 5, 2010 - #81/100
Mona Lisa Smile (2003)
Katherine Ann Watson (Julia Roberts) has accepted a position teaching art history at the prestigious Wellesley College. Ms. Watson is a very modern woman, particularly for the 1950s, and has a passion not only for art, but also for her students. For the most part, the students all seem to be biding their time, waiting to find the right man to marry. Generally, most of the women just look forward to becoming housewives. However, Ms. Watson realizes that all of the students are very bright, and she feels that they are not reaching their potentials. Although a strong bond is formed between Ms. Watson and her students, her views are incompatible with the dominant culture of the college. I thought that this movie had a very good cast, which consists of Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Julia Stiles, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Ginnifer Goodwin. I've read many reviews where people pretty much bashed the movie. It seems like this is one of those movies where you either love it or hate it. Well, I loved it, and I can safely say that I will be watching this movie again in the near future.

28 Days movie review
November 4, 2010 - #80/100
28 Days (2000)
After getting into a car accident while being intoxicated on the day of her sister's wedding, Gwen Cummings (Sandra Bullock) is given a choice between prison or a rehab center. She chooses rehab, but refuses to admit that she has a drinking problem, and is extremely resistant to taking part in any of the treatment programs they have to offer. After getting to know some of the other patients, Gwen gradually begins to re-examine her life and notices that she does, in fact, have a serious problem. The path to recovery will not be easy, and success will not be guaranteed, or even likely, but she is now willing to give it a try. I actually thought that this was a pretty good movie. The movie consisted of many emotional scenes, as well as uplifting scenes. Sandra Bullock, and the rest of the actors, did a pretty good job at portraying troubled patients in a rehab center. It definitely wasn't one of Sandra Bullock's best movies, but I found the movie to be enjoyable, and I probably wouldn't mind watching it again sometime in the future.

Crazy/Beautiful movie review
November 3, 2010 - #79/100
Crazy / Beautiful (2001)
Nicole (Kirsten Dunst) is the 17-year-old troubled daughter of a wealthy congressman who never met a rule she didn't break. Carlos (Jay Hernandez) is a grade A student with big dreams who endures a two-hour bus ride every morning to attend high school in an upscale L.A. neighborhood. Their innocent flirtations quickly develop into passionate love, but Nicole's self-destructive behavior threatens their relationship and puts Carlos' promising future in jeopardy. The rest of the movie then focuses on the dilemma as to whether or not their passionate love will keep them together, despite the objections of their families, or if Carlos must pursue his future without Nicole. Overall, I thought that this movie was decent. I've read a couple of reviews where people thought that this was a refreshing and different teen movie. Personally, I didn't really find it that refreshing. I thought that parts of it were kind of cheesy, but that is usually expected from a romantic movie. Although I found it to be decent, it still managed to keep my attention. Would I ever watch it again? Probably not, but it was still nice to watch that one time.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Wings of the Dove movie review
October 29, 2010 - #78/100
The Wings of the Dove (1997)
Based on the novel by Henry James, Kate Croy's mother was born to wealth and privilege, but she threw it all away to marry Kate's father (Michael Gambon), a penniless opium addict who admits to having stolen from his wife. After her mother's death, Kate (Helena Bonham Carter) is offered an opportunity to return to the life her mother gave up. However, there is a condition. Kate must sever all of her old ties, not only to her father, but also to her lover, the muck-raking journalist Merton Densher (Linus Roache), whom she has promised marriage. Kate reluctantly agrees to this, and in the meantime becomes friendly with "the world's richest orphan," Millie Theale (Alison Elliott), an American making the Grand Tour. Desperate to see Kate, Merton crashes a party that she and Millie are attending, and Millie is attracted to him. When Kate learns that Millie is dying, she comes up with a plan. She wants Merton to woo Millie so that when Millie dies, she will leave all of her money to Merton. Thus, making Merton rich, and able to marry Kate. As usual, Helena Bonham Carter's acting is amazing, and the rest of the cast was great, as well. I've never read the book, but after viewing this movie, it has intrigued me. Since books go into much more detail, I'd love to read the book and figure out more about the overall plot. It's definitely not a lighthearted plot, but it's very intense and interesting. I definitely wouldn't mind watching this movie again.
I gave this movie 9/10 stars on imdb.com.

Old School movie review
October 26, 2010 - #77/100
Old School (2003)
Near the beginning of the movie, Mitch's (Luke Wilson) crazy girlfriend named Heidi cheats on him, former party animal Frank (Will Ferrell) gets married, and Beanie (Vince Vaughn) is a typical family man. Once Mitch's life drastically changes, he moves into a house located on a college campus. Once he moves into the house, Frank is unable to let go of his wild life, and Beanie wants to reclaim his wild and crazy youth. Beanie then suggests that they form their own fraternity in Mitch's new house in order to re-live their glory days by bringing together a variety of misfit college students, losers, middle-aged and elderly retirees as their new friends. They mainly start the fraternity because the new Dean of Students named Pritchard (Jeremy Piven), whom still holds a personal grudge against all three of them, is trying to find a way to evict Mitch. Even though the creation of the fraternity works for a while, the dean still manages to find a way to evict Mitch from the house. Therefore, the three of them need to work together in order to keep the fraternity alive. Surprisingly, this movie wasn't as over-the-top silly as I thought that it was going to be, but I still didn't really enjoy it that much. It was somewhat entertaining to watch, but I wouldn't ever really want to watch it again.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

Runaway Jury movie review
October 24, 2010 - #76/100
Runaway Jury (2003)
When a day trader is shot and killed at his workplace, his widow sues a major gun manufacturer. Holding them responsible for his death, she dispatches idealistic lawyer Wendell Rohr (Dustin Hoffman) to oversee the case. A good man of principle, Wendell takes charge. On the defense team, another man will take charge: Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), a powerful and ruthless jury consultant riding high on his frequent successes. But in the middle of it all is the jury, which both Wendell and Rankin are determined to sway. But what they're about to discover is that one man and one woman stand in their way. Nicholas Easter (John Cusack) is one of the jurors and he's the one collaborating with Marlee (Rachel Weisz), his girlfriend, on the final outcome of the case. But as the case progresses, questions arise as to what the motives are of all those involved, and what some will do to secure the final outcome. The acting was wonderful, and the movie had many twists in it. Therefore, the plot was hard to predict since the movie contained so many twists. It's definitely a movie that keeps you thinking, and manages to keep your attention the entire time.

Some Kind of Wonderful movie review
October 23, 2010 - #75/100
Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)
A young tomboy named Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) is best friends with Keith (Eric Stoltz). Keith's father focuses on trying to pressure Keith into going to college so he won't have to work on cars for the rest of his life, just like his family has always had to do in the past. But, Keith isn't that enthusiastic about college. Instead, Keith excels in the arts, and would rather focus on pursuing that dream. But, for the time being, the only thing that Keith is really able to focus on is a girl by the name of Amanda Jones (Lea Thompson). She's one of the most popular girls in the school, and appears to be out of Keith's reach. But, when Amanda gets mad at her boyfriend, she agrees to go on a date with Keith. While all of this is taking place, Watts figures out that her feelings for her best friend Keith run deeper than just friendship, so she gets slightly hurt and jealous. But, while Keith plans to take Amanda out on a date, Amanda's old boyfriend plans to get back at Keith. Towards the end of the movie, the viewer beings to wonder if Keith will ever realize his true feelings for his best friend Watts. John Hughes was definitely one of the greatest screenwriters of the 1980's, and this is just another one of his classic 80's movies. Personally, I greatly enjoyed this movie. I thought that it was a really good movie, and the acting was wonderful. I definitely wouldn't mind watching this movie again.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie review
October 15, 2010 - #74/100
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
Adopted from the streets of Nasaf by King Sharaman of Persia, young Dastan grows up amongst royalty and quickly earns his place as a mighty warrior and prince. As his brothers Garsiv and Tus plan battle strategies, a spy sends word that the Holy City of Alamut has been supplying weapons to enemies of Persia. Taking matters into his own hands, Tus orders an attack on the sacred city, and upon its fall, Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) encounters the beautiful Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton). When King Sharaman dies under mysterious circumstances shortly after, and Dastan is accused of his murder, he flees with the princess on a harrowing mission to clear his name. Learning from Tamina the true motives behind Alamut's invasion, Dastan must embark on a perilous quest to stop an evil master-mind's plot for ultimate power with a mystical weapon that can control the very fabric of time. Overall, the acting was pretty good, and the movie managed to keep my attention. I've never played the video game before, but the storyline seemed to be adapted pretty well to be inspired by a video game.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Love and Other Disasters movie review
October 15, 2010 - #73/100
Love and Other Disasters (2006)
Emily Jackson (Brittany Murphy), called Jacks, lives a fast-paced life. She is always on the go, able to talk around the clock, and loves playing matchmaker for her friends. It's Emily's gay roommate and frequent companion Peter (Matthew Rhys) who becomes the subject of Jacks' matchmaking skills when a handsome new photographer assistant named Paolo (Santiago Cabrera) arrives at the Vogue offices, where Jacks works. She makes it her mission to bring the two men together. Unfortunately for her, she is so busy arranging a love connection between Peter and Paolo that she remains completely blind to the fact that Paolo isn't gay at all, and that Paolo is actually in love with her. It doesn't take long for Paolo to realize that Jacks thinks that he is gay, and there are many times where he tries to tell Jacks, only to be interrupted by others. It then makes the viewer wonder if Paolo will ever be able to tell Jacks the truth, or, when he does tell Jacks the truth, if she will be forgiving and if she even likes Paolo as more than just friends. Overall, I thought that this was a really cute movie. I love Brittany Murphy, and I've always thought that she was a good actress. It wasn't the best romantic comedy that I've ever seen, but I still enjoyed it and I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Ed Wood movie review
October 11, 2010 - #72/100
Ed Wood (1994)
I've seen parts of this movie, but I've never seen the movie in its entirety (which is shocking seeing as how I'm a huge Tim Burton fanatic). Anyway, Edward D. Wood Jr. is known as the worst director of all time. This movie takes place in the 1950's and focuses around several of Ed Wood's most well-known movies, such as Glen or Glenda, Bride of the Monster, and Plan 9 From Outer Space. Near the beginning of the movie, Ed Wood (Johnny Depp) is desperately trying to find a producer that will fund a movie that he is wanting to direct. Additionally, throughout the entire movie, Ed Wood struggles with his transvestism while trying to get his friend Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau), who is now older and not so well-known in the Hollywood business, into his films. His transvestism scares away his girlfriend Dolores Fuller (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mr. Lugosi suffers from health problems, which sometimes hinders the making of the movies. As stated earlier, the entire movie presents the life of Ed Wood, but Tim Burton manages to present it in a comical way. Overall, I thought that this was a really great movie. The acting was flawless. But, at times, I felt like the movie dragged a bit. That was the only flaw that I noticed. Everything else was great.
I gave this movie 9/10 stars on imdb.com.

Sweet Revenge movie review
October 11, 2010 - #71/100
Sweet Revenge (1998)
Near the beginning of the movie, a depressed businessman by the name of Henry Bell (Sam Neill) is standing on London's Tower Bridge, thinking about jumping off and committing suicide. Right before he jumps, he hears someone screaming for help. After searching around the bridge, he finds an aristocratic woman by the name of Karen Knightly (Helena Bonham Carter). Karen had been at the bridge for the same reason, except she had actually jumped. But, as soon as she jumped, her clothes got caught on something and she had been dangling there for several hours, waiting for someone to help her. After Henry helps Karen, they hang out for a bit and talk. Karen then comes up with a plot to get revenge on those who ruined their lives. For Henry, Bruce Tick was the man that fired him. For Karen, a woman by the name of Imogen who is married to a man that Karen was in love with. The very next day, Karen begins to implement her revenge plan. Generally, I think I expected this movie to be better. I didn't really laugh that much throughout the movie. Don't get me wrong, the acting was good. I'm a huge fan of Helena Bonham Carter, and she's always an amazing actress in any role that she plays. But, I just didn't really enjoy this movie that much.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

Great Expectations movie review
October 4, 2010 - #70/100
Great Expectations (1998)
Based on the timeless tale by Charles Dickens, this is a story of man named Finn (Ethan Hawke) who is desperately in love with an unreachable woman named Estella (Gwyneth Paltrow). Updated to modern day New York City, the story concerns a man of modest background who falls in love with a rich girl. At a young age, an older woman by the name of Ms. Dinsmoor (Anne Bancroft), gets Finn to come to her mansion in order to keep Estella company during the day. At a young age, Ms. Dinsmoor had her heartbroken, so she trains Estella how to be a heart breaker. As Finn grows up around the house, he manages to fall in love with Estella. As they get older, Finn tries everything that he can possibly think of in order to win her heart. I read this book roughly four years ago, and I remember liking it. The movie very different than the book. Even though I enjoyed the book more than I enjoyed the movie, I still thought that it was a pretty good movie. It seemed to lack at times, but it still managed to keep my attention. I probably wouldn't mind watching it again in the future.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

No Reservations movie review
October 3, 2010 - #69/100
No Reservations (2007)
In Manhattan, the workaholic Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is the chef of the 22 Bleecker Restaurant owned by Paula (Patricia Clarkson), who sent her to a therapist because she had no other interest in life but cooking and controlling her kitchen. When her only sister dies in a car accident, Kate becomes the guardian of her niece Zoe (Abigail Breslin), who has tremendous trouble being able to overcome the loss of her mother. Paula orders Kate to take a couple of days off in order to take care of Zoe. After the several days have passed, Kate returns to work, only to find out that Paula hired a sub-chef named Nick (Aaron Eckhart) without her approval. Nick explains that he is honored to work with Kate, but Kate is jealous and doesn't trust him. She believes that he wants her position. When Zoe gets close to Nick and invites him to have dinner with her and Kate, Kate changes her feelings for Nick. But, when his work is recognized by the clients of the restaurant, Kate believes she committed a mistake. Overall, I thought that this was a pretty good movie. It was definitely not as light hearted as I had thought that it was going to be, but it was still good. It managed to keep my attention. I wouldn't mind watching it again eventually.

Hot Tub Time Machine movie review
October 2, 2010 - #68/100
Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)
Three friends on losing streaks: Adam (John Cusack), whose girlfriend dumped him, Nick (Craig Robinson), with a dead-end job and a cheating wife, and Lou (Rob Corddry), a suicidal alcoholic. To help Lou recover from car-exhaust poisoning, Adam and Nick, with Adam's nephew Jacob (Clark Duke), go to a winter resort that was their old party place back in the days. It's now a dump, but the men get together anyway for a night of drinking in the hot tub. Somehow, the hot tub takes them back to 1986, on a fateful night for each of them. Maybe if they do everything the same way they did that night, they'll get back to the future so Jacob can be born. There are serious temptations to do things differently, and at times, it is hard for them to resist such temptation. Overall, I thought that this was a decent movie. It had some funny moments, but I'd generally classify this as a stupid comedy, and I've never really been a huge fan of stupid comedies. I guess you could say that I prefer romantic comedies. Anyway, it was somewhat entertaining to watch, but I don't think that I'd ever bother to watch this movie again.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Clueless movie review
September 23, 2010 - #67/100
Clueless (1995)
Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is rich, pretty, blonde, popular and knows how to talk anyone into doing just about anything. When she can't get a teacher to give her a better grade, she and her friend Dionne (Stacey Dash) match him up with another teacher in hopes of making him happier, and ultimately, causing him to become lax on his class expectations. When a girl named Tai (Brittany Murphy) transfers to Cher's school, she and Dion give her a makeover and attempt to find her a boyfriend. Cher soon realizes that she wants a boyfriend herself, but no one seems right. She goes through a spiritual makeover and realizes that there's more to life than clothes and popularity before she finds the boy of her dreams. True, this seems like a cheesy movie, and it is. But, I still thought that it was adorable. This movie reminded me of a modern day Emma (Jane Austen novel). Just like Emma, Cher was trying to help others by playing matchmaker, only to discover that the guy she really wanted was right under her nose the entire time. So, overall, I enjoyed this movie and I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Evening movie review
September 19, 2010 - #66/100
Evening (2007)
While in her deathbed, Ann Lord (Vanessa Redgrave) repeats the name "Harris," and recalls the day in the 50's when she was an aspirant singer. One day, she traveled from New York to be the maid of honor of her wealthy friend Lila Wittenborn's (Mamie Gummer) wedding in Newport. Ann Grant (Claire Dane) is welcomed by Lila's alcoholic and reckless brother Buddy (Hugh Dancy) in the Wittenborn's cottage at seaside. He tells Ann that his sister Lila is in love with their friend and servant Harris Arden (Patrick Wilson), who fought in the war and had graduated in medicine. Later the bride-to-be confesses her true feelings about Harris to Ann. However, when Ann meets Harris, she has a crush on him and they have a brief affair. Meanwhile Ann's daughters, the insecure and unstable Nina Mars (Toni Collette) and the happy wife and mother Constance Haverford (Natasha Richardson), are worried that their mother has differences and issues that need to be resolved. Overall, the acting was pretty good. Mamie Gummer, daughter of Meryl Streep (who also has a small part in this movie), did a wonderful job. I'd love to see her in other movies. She definitely has her mother's talent. But, even when an all-star cast, the plot definitely isn't the greatest plot ever.

Easy A movie review
September 17, 2010 - #65/100
Easy A (2010)
High school student Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) finds herself the victim of her school's "rumor mill" when she lies to her best friend Rhiannon (Alyson Michalka) about a weekend fling with a fictional college freshman. Word quickly spreads of Olive's promiscuity and, much to her surprise, she welcomes the attention. When she agrees to help out a bullied friend by pretending to sleep with him, her image rapidly degrades to a more lascivious state and her world begins to spin out of control. As she helps more and more of her classmates, and her lies continue to escalate, Olive must find a way to save face before the school's religious fanatic Marianne (Amanda Bynes) gets her expelled, and she loses a shot at attaining her own happiness. Personally, I loved this movie. Emma Stone was absolutely hilarious. The only aspect of the movie that I didn't care about too much was the fact that Olive's parents didn't really seem bothered by what Olive had done, nor did they ever question her when she'd tell them to ignore any rumors that they might hear about her. Normally, parents wouldn't be that lenient. But, other than that, I thought that this was a great movie. I saw it three times, and I'll definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Duplicity movie review
September 12, 2010 - #64/100
Duplicity (2009)
Ray (Clive Owen) works for MI6, and Claire (Julia Roberts) works for the CIA. She burns him in Dubai. Jump ahead five years: he sees her in Grand Central and confronts her. Both now work in industrial security for corporate giants whose CEOs hate each other. Flashbacks fill us in: is it coincidence that he sees her in Grand Central? In about a week, one of the firms is going to announce a revolutionary product. Under the guise of helping that corporation's rival, can Ray and Claire work their own theft and find an independent buyer? To work together, using the corporate rivalry to their advantage, they would have to trust one another - difficult, if not impossible. Or, is one playing the other? For the most part, the flashbacks confused me, and they seemed to occur often. So, it was hard, at times, to figure out exactly what was going on. To be quite honest, I didn't really care much for this movie. It didn't manage to keep my attention because I found the plot to be somewhat confusing.
I gave this movie 4/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Pelican Brief movie review
September 11, 2010 - #63/100
The Pelican Brief (1993)
Two Supreme Court Justices have been killed. Now a college professor, who clerked for one of the two men, is given a brief by his girlfriend named Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts). The brief consists of a statement as to who probably wanted to see these two men dead. He then gives it to one of his friends, who works for the FBI. When the FBI director reads it, he is fascinated by it. One of the president's men who reads it is afraid that if it ever got out, the president could be smeared. So, he advises the president to tell the director to drop it, which he does. But later the professor is murdered, and Darby then realizes that her brief has agitated some important people. A series of events continue to unfold. Whenever Darby turns to a new person who can help her out, they end up getting murdered. She finally turns to Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington), an investigative reporter, who attempts to help her out. Now it's a race against time, basically. They need to figure out exactly what is going on before someone tries to kill them to silence them. Overall, I thought that this movie was pretty good. The acting was wonderful. But, this movie was pretty long. So, parts of it seemed to lag, and I was wondering when it would finally come to an end. But, it was still good, just long.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Where the Wild Things Are movie review
September 11, 2010 - #62/100
Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
An adolescent named Max (Max Records) has an active imagination, and he will throw fits if others don't go along with what he wants. Max runs away from home after an incident with his sister Claire and her friends, and a tantrum that he throws as a result of his mother paying more attention to her boyfriend than to him. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination. This world, an ocean away, is inhabited by large wild beasts, including one named Carol who is much like Max himself in temperament. Instead of eating Max like they normally would with creatures of his type, the wild things befriend Max after he proclaims himself a king who can magically solve all their problems. Wow. So, I really didn't like this movie, at all. I thought that it was extremely weird and boring. Max's character got on my nerves because he was such a brat, and the world that he imagined was extremely weird. I think it's safe to say that I'll never watch this movie again.
I gave this movie 3/10 stars on imdb.com.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? movie review
As of April 3, 2010, I have decided to set a goal for myself. By December 31, 2010, I want to have watched 100 movies that I have never seen before. I may not make the goal since I'm already behind, seeing as how I have started in April, but, I still think that this would be fun. I will write a review about each movie that I see.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Everrett Ullysus McGill (George Clooney), a prisoner, is sick of breaking rocks in the heat of a Mississippi summer. So, he decides to escape with his two dim accomplices, Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and Pete (John Turturro). Trying to reclaim a buried treasure before its lost forever underneath a lake, the three make their way to Everett's homestead. Along the way, they meet a one-eyed Bible salesman, a blind prophet, a trio of sexy sirens, and a man who sold his soul to the devil. In their race to reach the treasure before it's flooded, they end up crashing a Ku Klux Klan lynch mob, help a sensitive Baby-Face Nelson rob three banks in two hours, and even have enough time to put out a best selling record as "The Soggy Bottom Boys." Overall, I thought that this movie was decent. I actually got kind of bored during it, and managed to zone out during certain parts. Don't get me wrong, the acting was really good, but the storyline just didn't interest me like I originally thought it would.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

So, he decides to escape with his two dim accomplices, Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) and Pete (John Turturro). Trying to reclaim a buried treasure before its lost forever underneath a lake, the three make their way to Everett's homestead. Going the Distance movie review
September 4, 2010 - #60/100
Going the Distance (2010)
Garrett (Justin Long) has always had a problem with commitment and understanding what women want. He seems to be doing everything right until he learns the hard way that he cannot speak the female language when his girlfriend drops him. That night, his friends attempt to brighten up his spirits by taking him to a bar. He meets Erin (Drew Barrymore) playing a game and ends up buying her a beer, then winning at bar trivia, and having breakfast with her the next morning. Erin is only in New York City for the summer, and will be returning to grad school in San Francisco in six weeks. They start a no-strings-attached summer fling relationship that turns into a seriously meaningful love affair. They realized that they were meant for each other, but when Erin returns home, it is then time to see if their love will survive the distance while Garrett remains in New York City and Erin moves to San Francisco. Overall, I thought that this was a pretty cute movie. Justin and Drew have great on-screen and off-screen chemistry. It wasn't the greatest romantic comedy that I've ever seen, but it managed to keep my interest throughout the entire movie.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Rush Hour movie review
September 3, 2010 - #59/100
Rush Hour (1998)
Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) is a Hong Kong Detective who helps confiscate millions of dollars worth of stolen Chinese artifacts from Crime Lord Juntao. Seeking revenge, Juntao kidnaps the eleven year old daughter of the Chinese consul when he moves to America. Inspector Lee is sent as a diplomatic adviser, and finds himself paired up with a Los Angeles cop by the name of James Carter (Chris Tucker). Carter is generally a man who works alone, and wants it to stay that way. But, now both of the men must work together in order to rescue the eleven year old daughter of the Chinese consul. To be quite honest, I thought that this movie would be funny, but it didn't really make me laugh that much. So, I didn't really think that it was that entertaining. I actually got kind of bored, and wondered when it would end. I think it's safe to say that I don't really intend to watch this movie ever again.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

Ocean's Eleven movie review
September 2, 2010 - #58/100
Ocean's Eleven (2001)
Danny Ocean (George Clooney) is a thief who has just been paroled from prison. He seeks out his partner, Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), and comes up with a job. The job that Ocean comes up with is the possibility of robbing the vault that houses the cash of three casinos in Las Vegas. Ocean has planned to rob it on a night when there will be 150 million dollars in it. So, Ocean an Rusty recruit nine other guys who all possess different abilities and talents, and they begin to put Ocean's plan in motion. To begin with, everything seems to be going well. But, Rusty discovers that Ocean's ex-wife, Tess (Julia Roberts), is dating Terry Benedict. terry is the ruthless owner of the casinos. Rusty is afraid that Tess will interfere with the plan, or realize what Ocean is up to. But, Ocean continues to carry out the plan in hopes of stealing the money from the vaults. Overall, I thought that this was a good movie. It wasn't as good as I had originally thought it would be, but it was still entertaining. But, at times, I was slightly confused as to what was going on in the movie. Besides that, I thought that the acting was really good, and it managed to keep my attention.

Music and Lyrics movie review
September 1, 2010 - #57/100
Music and Lyrics (2007)
Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant), a washed-up pop singer living in New York, is barely getting by in his career. In the 80's, he was a successful singer in the band called POP. But, in present day, he is barely managing to play any gigs by singing his old hits in amusement parks, school reunions, and dinner parties. Alex's manager schedules a meeting with the successful teen singer Cora Corman. If Alex manages to come up with a song that Cora approves of by the end of the week, then he will finally have a chance at being a huge hit once again. The only problem is, Alex generally has trouble putting lyrics into his melody. In comes Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore). Sophie is temporarily watering Alex's plants in his apartment while the regular woman is out for some various reason. While tending to the plants, she proves that she is a sensitive poet and efficient lyricist. So, together, they write a song that is approved by Cora. While they are writing the song, it's obvious that the two definitely have a connection. The only problem is, Cora ends up disagreeing about the interpretation of the song, and slightly changes it. This aggravates Sophie, while Alex is just trying to go with the flow. Therefore, Sophie gets mad at Cora and Alex. And, in the end, Alex realizes that all he wants is Sophie, and he has to figure out a way to in her back. Overall, I thought that this was a cute movie. True, the movie is definitely a cheesy romantic comedy, but I can't help it. I still like it. The acting was good, and there were some funny parts in the movie.

Rain Man movie review
August 16, 2010 - #56/100
Rain Man (1988)
Charlie Babbit (Tom Cruise) is a self-centered Los Angeles-based automobile dealer/hustler/bookie. At a young age, Charlie used his father's 1948 Buick convertible without permission. His father reported it stolen, resulting in Charlie having to spend two days in jail. Because of this, Charlie no longer got along well with his father. Therefore, he hadn't spoken to him in years. Near the beginning of the movie, his father passes away. After reading over the will, Charlie finds out that his father had left 3 million dollars to someone else. Obviously, this news disturbs him, and he decides to further investigate. After investigating, Charlie finds out that he has a brother named Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), who is an autistic man that lives at the Walbrook Institute. Charlie then kidnaps Raymond and decides to take him on a road trip to the west coast as a threat to get the 3 million dollars all for himself. But, Charlie wasn't prepared to deal with Raymond's quirky ways. In the end, Charlie learns how to be less selfish, and learns to love and understand his brother Raymond. The acting in the movie was wonderful, especially Dustin Hoffman's performance. Overall, it is a deeply moving and heartwarming movie.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People movie review

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008)
Sidney Young (Simon Pegg) is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame, and glamor. His alternative magazine, Post Modern Review, pokes fun at the media obsessed stars and bucks trends. Near the beginning of the movie, Sidney is offered a job at a conservative New York based Sharps magazine. Sidney is shocked at the offer, and ends up gladly taking the job. For a while, Sidney manages to mess up multiple times. It is hard for him to transition from one type of magazine to another. His colleague Alison Olsen (Kirsten Dunst) tries to help him out. Thus begins Sidney's attempt to climb up the corporate ladder. Personally, I didn't really think that this movie was that funny. It didn't really manage to make me laugh out loud. I had expected it to hopefully be different from most romantic comedies, but it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining. It managed to keep my attention, but I probably wouldn't watch it again unless if it was the only thing that was on the television at the time.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Eat Pray Love movie review

Eat Pray Love (2010)
Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having, which includes a husband, a house, and a successful career. But, she was unhappy with her life because she felt lost and confused. Therefore, Liz felt the need to search and figure out what exactly she wanted in her life. So, after she gets a divorce, she decides to travel around the world in hopes of finding whatever it is that she is looking for. First, she travels to Italy and goes to many various restaurants, trying out different cuisines and meeting new people along the way. Then, she travels to India and learns about the power of prayer and devotion. Finally, she travels to Indonesia, specifically Bali. In Bali, she learns to let go of all of her problems and she learns how to love again. The scenery in the movie was simply amazing, but the plot seemed to lack a bit. I've heard many people say that the book is very uplifting and wonderful. But, I don't think that the screenwriters were able to capture that uplifting kind of feeling and fit it into the movie. Also, I felt like the movie was just a bit too long. At times, I was beginning to wonder when it would end. I'm interested in reading the book to try to better understand what Liz Gilbert went through, but I don't know if I'd be able to sit through the movie again, even though I am a huge fan of Julia Roberts.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie review
August 12, 2010 - #53/100
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is thirty years old, and single. She works in her family's restaurant in Chicago. Her father just wants her to get married to a nice Greek guy, but Toula doesn't necessarily want to stick with tradition. Her mother convinces her father to let Toula take some computer classes at college. After she has learned a few things about computers, she ends up helping out her aunt's business, which is a travel agency. While working at the travel agency, she meets Ian Miller (John Corbett). Ian is a non-Greek guy, so of course Toula's father basically freaks out when he finds out. So, the rest of the movie is about Ian learning to accept the Greek ways and Toula's father learning to accept Ian as being a non-Greek guy. Personally, I had expected this to be a really funny movie, but I didn't think that it was that funny. It didn't really manage to make me laugh out loud that much. Overall, I still thought that it was a cute movie, and I wouldn't mind watching it again.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie review
August 11, 2010 - #52/100
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)
Tibby (Amber Tamblyn), Lena (Alexis Bledel), Carmen (America Ferrera), and Bridget (Blake Lively) have been best friends since childhood. Summer vacation has just started, and somehow the girls manage to find a pair of jeans that magically fits them perfectly. Since all of the girls will be separated during the summer vacation, they decide to share the pants as a symbol of their friendship because they assume that the jeans will bring good luck to those that wear them. Bridget travels to a soccer camp in Mexico and she has a crush on the coach named Eric. Lena visits her family in Greece and has a crush on the local fisherman named Kostas. Carmen travels to South Caroline to spend the vacation with her father, only to find out that he is planning on getting re-married. Tibby stays in town working in a store, and is befriended by the twelve year old girl named Bailey. Each girl has a chance to wear the pants. Towards the end of the summer vacation, their experiences help them to grow up, and their friendship remains strong. It took me a while to get over the fact that four girls managed to fit into one pair of jeans, but I finally managed to get over that huge flawed detail. I thought that this movie was cute, but it wasn't as good as what I had originally expected it to be.

Anastasia movie review
August 10, 2010 - #51/100
Anastasia (1997)
When the dark shadow of revolution falls on the house of the Romanovs, the royal family's youngest daughter, Anastasia (Meg Ryan), barely escapes the siege. Ten years later the Grand Duchess knows herself only by the name Anya due to amnesia caused by hitting her head that night. But Anya holds memories of a past which was full of palaces and parties. In order to discover more about this past, she travels to Paris with two con men: Dimitri (John Cusack) and Vladimir who plan on passing her off as Anastasia to collect the reward money offered by the Dowager Empress for the return of her granddaughter. But what they don't realize is that they have the real Anastasia. And what's worse: Rapsputin (Christopher Lloyd), former confidant to the Tsar, will not rest until he sees the last Romanov dead. I've been wanting to watch this movie for a long time, and I thought that it was pretty good. I wouldn't consider it to be one of my favorite cartoon movies, but it was still really good. I don't really know much about the actual story, so I couldn't say whether or not this movie is historically accurate. But, it managed to keep me entertained, and I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

Ever After movie review
August 10, 2010 - #50/100
Ever After (1998)
This story plot is pretty much like Cinderella, with a few scenes added here and there. Danielle (Drew Barrymore) has a wonderful bond with her father. But, sadly, he passes away near the beginning of the movie when she is just a little girl. Before he died, he re-married to a woman who had two daughters. So, after he passed away, Danielle basically became a servant for her stepmother and stepsisters. One day, she accidentally meets Prince Henry (Dougray Scott). At the time, she doesn't realize that he is the future king of France. Danielle ends up crossing paths with him again, and then he starts to take interest in her. Eventually, he must choose a wife, and he wants to choose her. The only problem is, he doesn't know her. Towards the end of the movie, she goes to the ball and confesses in front of him and everyone else, letting him know exactly who she is. It is then time for him to decide whether or not he wants to be with her. Personally, I thought that Drew Barrymore did a wonderful job. Overall, I thought that it was a cute movie. I wouldn't mind watching it again.

The Box movie review
August 9, 2010 - #49/100
The Box (2009)
Norma Lewis (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur Lewis (James Marsden) randomly receive a wooden box on their front door one morning. Inside the box is a red button. Norma and Arthur contemplate this for a while, but decide not to press it without knowing exactly what would happen if they did. Eventually, a mysterious stranger appears at their house, and tells them about the box. If they decide to press the button, then they will receive one million dollars. But, in pressing the button, someone somewhere will die. It will be someone that they don't know. Therefore, Norma and Arthur have a huge moral dilemma. But, what they don't know is that even if they press the button, there will be even greater consequences than just taking the life of an innocent human being. I thought that most of the movie was extremely confusing, and the ending didn't make any sense at all. I was beginning to wonder when the movie would finally end. It seemed like the plot went from somewhat believable to extremely unbelievable, and I became somewhat uninterested in the entire plot. The acting wasn't bad, but it was just weird seeing Diaz and Marsden in a movie like this. I'm still confused as to what exactly this movie was about, and I'm not sure if I'll ever figure out.

Erin Brockovich movie review
August 8, 2010 - #48/100
Erin Brockovich (2000)
Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is an unemployed single mother to three children, and is desperate to find a job. In the beginning of the movie, she is involved in a car accident. A doctor ran a red light and smashed into her vehicle. Therefore, Erin attempts to file a lawsuit against the doctor. Ed Masry (Albert Finney) represents her. But, Erin doesn't end up winning her case. She then becomes even more desperate for money, and ends up convincing Ed to give her a job at his law firm. While filing, she notices something odd about one of the reports. So, she then decides to go a bit of investigating of her own. After doing some research, she learns that the Pacific Gas & Electric Company has attempted on numerous occasions to secretly buy land that was contaminated by hexavalent chromium, which is a deadly toxic waste. Apparently, the company had been improperly dumping the waste, and it had managed to infect many residents in the area. Erin eventually convinces Ed to join in on the investigation, and they soon manage to have one of the biggest class action lawsuits in American history against a multi-billion dollar corporation. I pretty much loved every single thing about this movie. It managed to keep my attention the entire time, and Julia Roberts and Albert Finney were amazing. What makes this movie seem even more interesting is that it is actually based on a true story. Obviously, I wouldn't mind watching this movie again.
I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.

Anywhere But Here movie review
August 3, 2010 - #47/100
Anywhere But Here (1999)
Adele August (Susan Sarandon) is tired of being stuck in a small town. Therefore, she decides to live in Beverly Hills with her daughter Ann August (Natalie Portman). It's easy to tell that Ann despises the fact that her mother is making her move away from her family and friends. Ann was perfectly content living in the small town. But, Adele forces her to move to Beverly Hills anyway. The two of them experience many issues after moving. Bills aren't being paid on time because the income is extremely low. So, there are obviously many obstacles that arise throughout the movie. Also, Adele has always wanted her daughter to be a movie star. She keeps trying to get Ann to audition for roles. But, Ann has no desire to pursue that dream at all. Instead, Ann wants to get away from her mother and attend a university. The entire movie seemed to be about the mother-daughter relationship, and the hardships that come with life. I thought that it was good, but it wasn't as good as what I was expecting.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Where The Heart Is movie review
August 2, 2010 - #46/100
Where The Heart Is (2000)
Novalee Nation (Natalie Portman) is a pregnant girl from Tennessee. In the beginning of the movie, she is heading to California with her boyfriend Willie Jack Pickens. It's obvious to tell that he isn't too thrilled at the thought of soon having to be a father, and that he feels like he is trapped in his relationship. In Sequoyah, Oklahoma, Novalee asks Willie Jack to stop at a Wal-Mart in order for her to be able to use the restroom. While she is inside, he drives off and leaves her stranded. She has no job and no money. But, Novalee secretly manages to live in the Wal-Mart until her daughter Americus is born roughly six weeks later. Her daughter is then known as the Wal-Mart baby. With a little help from two friendly strangers, Novalee attempts to rebuild her life. Overall, I thought that this was a cute movie. Natalie Portman was an excellent choice. In any movie that I've seen her in, she always manages to portray the character perfectly. Overall, it was a very emotional and moving movie. I wouldn't mind watching this movie again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief movie review
July 26, 2010 - #45/100
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)
Zeus' lightning bolt gets stolen, and he blames it on Poseidon's son, Percy Jackson. But, at the time of this incident, Percy doesn't even know that he is the son of Poseidon. Zeus still thinks that Percy stole it, so he gives a certain amount of time for Percy to return the lightning bolt before he decides to initiate a war against his brother. One day, while Percy is visiting the Museum of Metropolitan of Art, he is attacked by a Fury. Grover, Percy's best friend, ends up saving his life and explaining to him that he is a demigod. Grover takes him to a special place where people like Percy are hidden from the rest of the world. Percy's mother had tagged along for this, but was taken by a monster and is now stuck in hell with Hades. At the camp, Percy learns about the lightning bolt, trains a bit, and meets Annabeth. Together, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth decide to visit Hades in order to get his mother back, as well as to try to figure out who the lightning thief really was. Perhaps it's just because I don't like, nor understand, Greek mythology, but I didn't really find this movie to be that entertaining. The entire movie just seemed a bit rushed, and the acting wasn't great. I've also read other reviews that people have written, and it seems that the book doesn't really follow the movie that well. I wouldn't know this since I haven't read the book, but oh well. I still didn't really enjoy the movie that much.

Margot at the Wedding movie review
July 22, 2010 - #44/100
Margot at the Wedding (2007)
From the same director (Noah Baumbach) of The Squid and the Whale, comes Margot at the Wedding. As it says on imdb.com, this movie is "a slice of family life: sisters, husbands, children, history, secrets, and jealousies." Margot (Nicole Kidman) travels from Manhattan to her family's Long Island home with her son Claude. It had been a while since she Margot had visited her sister Pauline because they always seemed to not get along well in the past, but Pauline is getting married and Margot didn't want to miss it. Malcolm (Jack Black) is the lazy slacker that Pauline is marrying, and it's obvious to tell that Margot doesn't care much for Malcolm at all. She thinks that Pauline could do a lot better than him. Issues from the past, as well as the present, arise. Margot and Pauline seem to be bickering back and forth a lot, and Margot even becomes upset with Claude, at times. But, Margot has issues of her own. While dealing with marital problems, she also has a lover nearby. Therefore, there are plenty of issues that the family encounters in this movie. It seems that Noah Baumbach does an amazing job at portraying family issues, but I felt that The Squid and the Whale was better than this movie. At times, I got a little bit bored. It didn't really keep my attention like I thought it would. The acting was wonderful, but I just think that I expected a bit more out of the movie since Nicole Kidman and Jack Black both starred in it. And, perhaps I shouldn't have assumed something like that, but I did.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

Kate & Leopold movie review
July 21, 2010 - #43/100
Kate & Leopold (2001)
Stuart Besser (Liev Schreiber) finds a space near the Brooklyn Bridge where there is a gap in time. Therefore, he goes back to the 19th century in order to try to better understand the past. When he travels back in time, he takes a small camera with him. While taking various pictures, a man who actually lives in the 1870s time period by the name of Leopold (Hugh Jackman) notices Stuart, and becomes curious. Once Stuart realizes that Leopold has noticed something odd about him, he quickly heads back to the time warp area in order to go back to the 21st century. But, there is a problem. Leopold follows him, and now ends up in an entirely different century. There is no way to fix this problem immediately because the time warp area only exists at certain times. Therefore, Leopold is stuck in the 21st century until the time warp opens up again. Stuart's ex-girlfriend Kate McKay (Meg Ryan) lives in the same apartment complex as him. Therefore, she eventually meets Leopold. Of course, they eventually like each other. So, towards the end of the movie, it's time for Kate to figure out if she should stay in the 21st century, or if she should go back to the 19th century so she can be with Leopold. I'm a huge fan of Meg Ryan, so that's mainly why I wanted to watch this movie. But, Hugh Jackman does a wonderful job. He makes his character seem awkward, yet amusing, when being exposed to the various differences between the 19th and 21st centuries. True, most of the movie was extremely predictable, but most romantic comedies are predictable. Also, at times, parts of the movie seemed to be a bit cheesy. But, it managed to keep my attention and I thought that it was cute. I wouldn't mind watching it again.

The Squid and the Whale movie review
July 20, 2010 - #42/100
The Squid and the Whale (2005)
This movie is set in 1986, and it is based on true childhood experiences of Noah Baumbach (the writer and director) and his brother. Joan (Laura Linney) and Bernard (Jeff Daniels) Berkman are going through a divorce, and it's easy to tell that the divorce greatly affects their children Frank and Walt. Joan, who is growing as a writer, admits being unfaithful to Bernard. On the other hand, it's easy to tell that Bernard is a selfish man who is upset at the fact that he hasn't been able to write a decent book for many years. Right after the separation occurs, each child chooses a side. Walt wants to spend most of his time with Bernard, while Frank would rather spend most of his time with Joan. There are so many aspects of this movie that make you feel uncomfortable and sad. Divorce is an ugly mess, but I just hope that it's not always as bad as it seems in this movie. The acting in this movie was perfect. I was actually shocked to find out that Jeff Daniels was the dad. Most of the time, when I think of Jeff, I think of Dumb and Dumber. Therefore, it was nice to see him play a serious role. His character is completely unlikeable, but yet he still manages to make you feel sorry for him. I think it's safe to say that I've never seen a movie like this before. It's definitely different, but sometimes it's nice to see movies that aren't predictable. Noah Baumbach did a wonderful job at bringing this story to life, and I sincerely hope that some of the things in the movie were exaggerated because it would be terrible to grow up in a home that handles divorce in this manner. This movie was brilliant, but awkward.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

Run, Fat Boy, Run movie review
July 19, 2010 - #41/100
Run, Fat Boy, Run (2008)
Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) is well known for never being able to finish anything that he has ever started. In the beginning of the movie, it is his wedding day. His fiance Elizabeth 'Libby' Odell (Thandie Newton) is pregnant. It's obvious to tell that Dennis is extremely nervous about the huge commitment of becoming married and being a father all at once. Therefore, he runs. Fast forward to five years later, and Dennis is a single, slightly overweight man. Every time Libby brings their child over so he can spend some time with his father, Dennis tries to convince her to take him back. He's realized that he has made a mistake, but he's too late. Libby is dating a man named Whit, who is an active runner in many various marathons. Therefore, Dennis decides to prove everyone wrong by deciding to run a marathon in hopes of finally being able to finish something for the first time in his life. Just a few days before the race, Whit proposes to Libby, and she accepts. With a little help from his friends, Dennis is encouraged to still participate in the race in hopes of winning his family back. Personally, before viewing this movie, I had anticipated it being a lot more funny and entertaining. But, it didn't really make me laugh that much. I mean, it was good, but it wasn't as good as I had expected. Overall, this is just a predictable comedy.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Last Chance Harvey movie review
July 15, 2010 - #40/100
Last Chance Harvey (2008)
Harvey Shine (Dustin Hoffman) writes music for television ads in New York. One weekend, he heads to London for his daughter's wedding. It's obvious to tell that, since the divorce, he hasn't been in his daughter's life that much. Perhaps this is why his daughter seems to be closer to her step-dad than she does to her real dad. While in London, Harvey learns that his boss has pushed him aside for a younger talent. Needless to say, his life isn't exactly perfect at the moment. So, he decides to stay in London for a bit since his job doesn't seem to be working out. In comes Kate Walker (Emma Thompson), who works doing surveys of passengers passing through the airport. Harvey had first met her when he had gotten off of the plane, but he didn't actually start talking to her until he's sitting in the bar. At first, Kate doesn't seem interested, but she finally ends up giving him a chance. Over the next few days, the continue to hang out, getting to know each other better. But, will this random fling actually turn into something more? I mostly wanted to watch this movie because Emma Thompson is one of my favorite actresses. Throughout the entire movie, there are never really any parts that tend to be monumental. Therefore, nothing in particular really sticks out. But, the movie still managed to keep my attention. I can definitely think of better movies that have Emma in them, like Stranger Than Fiction, but this was still a good movie. I wouldn't mind watching it again.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Martian Child movie review
July 13, 2010 - #39/100
Martian Child (2007)
Growing up, David (John Cusack) was always seen as the weird kid in school. Many years later, he becomes a science fiction writer. When the movie first starts off, it lets the viewer know that David has been a widower for two years now. It also becomes apparent that David is thinking about adopting a child. David's sister Liz (John Cusack) tries to talk David out of the idea, thinking that it's not the best idea for him to adopt at the moment. But, upon meeting a little boy named Dennis, who thinks that he is on a mission from Mars, David instantly connects with him. Dennis is definitely a quirky child. He stays in a large box for most of the day because he fears sunlight, and he wears a belt of batteries so he won't float away. While David is taking Dennis home on a trial, his sister and his best friend offer support. But, problems arise when Dennis is expelled from school. The court isn't exactly sure if they want to approve the adoption. So, David then has to figure out how to be a father and turn Dennis into a normal child in order for the court to grant custody. Overall, I thought that this was a cute movie. I mostly wanted to watch it because I love John and Joan Cusack. I think that they are wonderful together. Also, the young child who played Dennis did a pretty good job. It wasn't the greatest movie, but I definitely wouldn't mind watching it again.

Whip It movie review
July 11, 2010 - #38/100
Whip It (2009)
Bliss Cavendar (Ellen Page) lives in a small town called Bodeen, which is located in Texas. From the very beginning of the movie, it's easy to tell that the town is a bit old fashioned. Her mother is obsessed with putting Bliss and her younger sister into beauty pageants. But, Bliss doesn't care anything about the pageants. She only participates in them to keep her mother satisfied. But, one day when Bliss is in a store buying a pair of shoes, she notices a flyer for roller derby. Bliss convinces her friend Pash to go along with her. After viewing the game, Bliss decides to try out for a team, and ends up making the Hurl Scouts team. She has finally found something that she is truly passionate about. The only problem is, a person has to at least be 21 years old in order to be on a roller derby team. Therefore, Bliss lies about her age, as well as telling her parents that she will be taking an SAT Prep course at school while she will actually be heading to Austin for roller derby practice. So, it's easy to tell that there are a few problems that eventually arise in the movie. Especially when the final roller derby tournament game is scheduled the same night as a pageant. This movie was the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, and I thought that she did a wonderful job. I'd love for her to direct more, if the opportunity ever arose. I admit that I was a bit skeptical about watching this movie to begin with, but I loved it. The cast was wonderful, as well as the acting.
I gave this movie 9/10 stars on imdb.com.

All About Steve movie review
July 11, 2010 - #37/100
All About Steve (2009)
Mary Horowitz (Sandra Bullock) writes crossword puzzles for a newspaper called the Sacramento Herald. From the beginning of the movie, it's obvious to tell that Mary isn't necessarily average. Her parents are always trying to set her up on blind dates, seeing as how she is single. Therefore, Mary regretfully agrees to go on a blind date with this guy named Steve (Bradley Cooper), who is a cameraman for CNN. Upon meeting him, she is instantly attracted. Within minutes, it seems as if she has decided that Steve is the man for her. Their date doesn't even last ten minutes because it's obvious that Steve is turned off by her quirky personality, but he makes a remark out of kindness about how he wished that she could go on the road with him. Mary ends up losing her job because she creates a crossword puzzle which is all about Steve. Therefore, she decides to follow him across the country. The thing that bothered me the most about this movie is her dedication to follow him across the country just because of one remark. She had only met him once, and for only about ten minutes. Therefore, she just seemed kind of creepy and stalker-ish. That being said, Sandra managed to play the part perfectly. I honestly didn't expect much out of this movie, and I was right to think that.
I gave this movie 4/10 stars on imdb.com.

Bend It Like Beckham movie review
July 8, 2010 - #36/100
Bend It Like Beckham (2002)
Jess Bhamra comes from a traditional, close-knit Sikh family. Her parents want Jess and her older sister to stay true to the traditional values of their ancestors. But, Jess has a secret passion. She is obsessed with soccer, and David Beckham. Unbeknownst to her parents, Jess plays soccer with some of her guy friends at a park just for fun. One day, Juliette Paxton (Keira Knightley) notices Jess, and decides to see whether or not she would be interested in playing on an all-girls soccer team. To begin with, Jess isn't necessarily comfortable having to sneak out on a regular basis for practices and games, but she does it anyway because soccer is her passion. Eventually, both Jess and Juliette fall for their soccer coach Joe (Jonathan Rhys Myers). Of course, this jeopardizes their friendship. But, towards the end of the movie, Jess' sister is getting married the same day as the final soccer tournament game. This game happens to be a very important game because a U.S. College scout will be present to assess her performance. Therefore, Jess must decide whether she will support her family's traditional ways, or play in the soccer tournament. Overall, it was a cute movie. It kind of reminded me of She's The Man, but with less funny moments. And, of course, the plot is predictable. If you are looking for something deep and meaningful, then this wouldn't necessarily be that great of a choice. This is just something to watch whenever you are bored and you want to watch a lighthearted movie.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Eclipse movie review
July 6, 2010 - #35/100
Eclipse (2010)
Isabella Swan (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) are all back again. This time, the vampire Victoria, who wants to kill Bella, forms a newborn vampire army in attempt to finish off Bella. While Bella is oblivious to this newborn vampire army, she is trying to choose between her love for the vampire Edward, or her close friendship with the werewolf Jacob. Near the end of the movie, it's time for the vampires and the werewolves to join together in order to destroy the newborn vampire army before it attempts to destroy Bella and the rest of the normal people who live in Forks. If you aren't a fan of Twilight, then this definitely isn't a film that you need to see. Generally, I enjoy Twilight, but I am by no means obsessed with it. I can think of plenty of other books / movies that are better than Twilight. With that being said, Kristen Stewart is still a horrible actress. She lacks emotion. I find it almost unbearable, at times, to watch the screen when she's attempting to act. Other than that, this movie is more dark than the previous movies. Also, the battle scene near the end was pretty good. Overall, I enjoyed it. It managed to keep me entertained for around two hours, and it closely followed the book.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Addicted to Love movie review
July 3, 2010 - #34/100
Addicted to Love (1997)
An astronomer named Sam (Matthew Broderick) is in love with Linda. In the beginning of the movie, Linda goes to New York for a bit, and she ends up leaving Sam for a Frenchman named Anton. Sam decides to go to New York in order to attempt to win Linda back. He sets up home in an abandoned building opposite his ex-girlfriend's apartment. Several weeks after he has set everything up, a very hostile woman named Maggie (Meg Ryan) arrives. Maggie is Anton's ex-fiance, and she's out for revenge. Together, they team up to attempt to separate the couple, and ruin Anton's life. I mostly wanted to see this movie because of Meg Ryan. Personally, I wasn't entirely impressed with this movie. The acting was good, but there was one main thing that bothered me a lot. The thing that bothered me the most is that Sam took up an abandoned building as his temporary home for a few months. That just seemed odd, and slightly stalker-ish. He would watch her every move. It just seemed creepy. Other than that, I didn't think that it was a bad movie, but it wasn't as good as what I was expecting it to be.

Lost in Translation movie review
June 29, 2010 - #33/100
Lost in Translation (2003)
Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is an American film actor. He visits Tokyo to film a few commercials. It's easy to tell that Bob is far past his prime, and he is dealing with a mediocre marriage. Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), a young woman who has recently married a traveling photographer, is just trying to find her place in the world. Her husband is too busy working, leaving her to be bored by herself each day. One night, Charlotte meets Bob at the bar in the hotel. Throughout the movie, the relationship between Bob and Charlotte deepens. Charlotte needs hilarity in her life, and Bob is able to provide that. Bob just needs someone to talk to, and Charlotte is able to provide that. Together, they are able to release the feeling of mediocre lives. But, towards the end of the movie, both of them begin to realize that their adventures in Tokyo will soon be over, and they will both have to return to their mediocre lives. Nothing monumental ever seemed to happen in the movie, but it somehow managed to keep my attention. The acting is practically flawless, and the entire movie is subtle and down-to-earth. If you like to watch movies that are different than the cliche box office hits, then this just might be a movie that you should consider watching.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

James and the Giant Peach movie review
June 27, 2010 - #32/100
James and the Giant Peach (1996)
From the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline comes James and the Giant Peach. When I was younger, I remember seeing bits and pieces of this movie, but I vaguely even remembered what happened. Anyway, an orphan named James lives with his two aunts. He is basically a slave for them, doing whatever they demand. A mysterious man shows up and gives James magic boiled crocodile tongues, which will grant any wish or desire. But, James trips and spills them everywhere. One of them ends up touching a peach, and the peach drastically grows. Venturing inside the peach, James meets a spider, a ladybug, a centipede, a grasshopper, and an earthworm. He then goes on an adventure, hoping to reach New York City. Part of the movie is in live action while the other part of the movie is in stop-motion animation. Growing up, I never read the book. So, I can't honestly say whether or not the movie closely follows the book. Overall, it was a good children’s movie. I think that I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had watched it at a younger age. The thing that probably bothered me the most is that the little kid who played James couldn’t sing well at all, and he had several singing parts throughout the movie. But, he was a pretty good actor. Personally, I enjoyed Henry Selick’s the Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline more than James and the Giant Peach.

Toy Story 3 movie review
June 22, 2010 - #31/100
Toy Story 3 (2010)
Andy is all grown up, and is ready to depart for college. After much deliberation, Andy puts Woody (Tom Hanks) in his box labeled 'college,' and puts Buzz (Tim Allen) and the rest of the gang in a bag that is meant to be put in the attic. However, the bag is mistaken as trash. The toys manage to barely escape that disaster, and crawl into the car and get in a box that will be delivered to a daycare. Not wanting to be separated, Woody gets in the daycare box, as well. But, daycare isn't what they expected at all. They are put in a room where the children basically demolish every toy that they can get their little hands on. Therefore, it's time for Woody and his gang to bust out of the daycare, and find their way back to Andy. Wow. Before viewing this movie, I didn't think that it would be possible for Toy Story 3 to be better than 1 or 2, but I was seriously mistaken. This was, by far, my favorite out of the trilogy. Disney Pixar always manages to keep audiences of all ages entertained by having enough comedy, action, and drama in each of their movies. If you are a fan of animated movies, then this would be a must see. I'm already anticipating the next time that I will be able to view this movie again.
I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.

Forget Paris movie review
June 21, 2010 - #30/100
Forget Paris (1995)
Mickey Gordon (Billy Crystal) is a professional basketball referee. In the beginning of the movie, Mickey's father dies. It is easy to tell from the beginning of the movie that Mickey never got along well with his father. But, he wanted to grant his father's last wish, which was to be buried in France. Therefore, Mickey heads to France to bury his father. Upon arriving to France, Mickey learns that the body was accidentally sent to the wrong airport. In comes Ellen Andrews (Debra Winger), who is an American living in Paris who works for the airline. She helps Mickey through the entire ordeal, and they get to know each other better. The rest of the story between Mickey and Ellen is told in flashback by their friends at a restaurant while they are waiting for them to arrive. For the most part, the entire movie is about the hardships of marriage, and ways to overcome those hardships. For example, Ellen moves back to the US to be with Mickey, but she's not happy. Random issues like this arise throughout the movie. It's hard to say whether this movie is a romantic comedy or a drama. So, I sometimes had a difficult time deciding whether I should laugh, or if it was supposed to be a serious moment. Overall, it wasn't a bad movie, and I'd probably watch it again. The acting wasn't bad. But, I think if I wanted to see a romantic movie from around this same era, then I'd just stick with When Harry Met Sally.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

America's Sweethearts movie review
June 20, 2010 - #29/100
America's Sweethearts (2001)
Gwen Harrison (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Eddie Thomas (John Cusack) are both movie stars who are currently trying it apart for a bit. Little does Eddie know, Gwen plans on filing for a divorce to end the marriage entirely. But, before their marriage fell apart, they were an amazing couple on-screen and off. Therefore, they must get back together and promote a movie that they had made while they were still in love. At the premier weekend for the press, the print of the film is taking a while to show up. So, a publicist named Lee Phillips (Billy Crystal) shows up and tries to divert the attention of the press towards Gwen and Eddie, making it seem as if their marriage is still perfectly fine. So, to the press, Gwen and Eddie still seem to be getting along with each other. But, Gwen actually has another man in her life named Hector while Eddie is finally realizing his attraction towards Gwen's sister named Kiki (Julia Roberts). Overall, I enjoyed this movie. But, I really like John Cusack and Julia Roberts, so that probably had an effect on my decision. For the most part, the movie was predictable. Near the very beginning of the movie, it was easy to tell that Eddie had an attraction towards Kiki, and would probably end up with her. Even though the plot was predictable, it still managed to keep me immersed and entertained. It's not the greatest romantic comedy, but I still enjoyed it.

Shrek Forever After movie review
June 12, 2010 - #28/100
Shrek Forever After (2010)
In the beginning of this movie, Shrek (Mike Myers) seems to be living a mundane life at his swamp with his wife Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and their three children. At a birthday party for the children, Shrek seems to finally crack. He has had enough. In comes Rumpelstiltskin. He makes a deal with Shrek, giving him an entire day to himself. Of course, Rumpelstiltskin cheats Shrek, and messes up everything by making it as if Shrek had never existed. The only way to break the spell is for Shrek to kiss his one true love, which is Fiona. Also, he only has twenty-four hours before he disappears forever. So, he has a very limited amount of time to try to convince Fiona that she loves him. The thing that probably bothers me the most about the last two Shrek movies is that it seems that they aren't as adult friendly as they used to be. For example, the first Shrek movie contained funny jokes that only adults were supposed to be able to understand. Therefore, it managed to keep children entertained, as well as adults. The last two Shrek movies seem to be lacking this factor. Puss in Boots and Donkey still managed to make me laugh, as usual. But, other than that, I didn't really laugh out loud that much. So, overall, Shrek Forever After was an entertaining movie, but it definitely didn't live up to my expectations.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Killers movie review
June 11, 2010 - #27/100
Killers (2010)
Jen (Katherine Heigl) goes on vacation with her parents since her boyfriend has recently dumped her. Upon arriving to the location, she meets Spencer (Ashton Kutcher). Instantly, there is an attraction. Throughout the vacation, they hang out in order to get to know each other better. But, Spencer leaves out one huge detail about his life; he is a government-hired super-assassin. But, he decides to give up that risky life after meeting Jen, and tells his boss that he no longer wants to work for him anymore. Three years later, Jen and Spencer are married, living in a neighborhood, and both have normal jobs. But, Spencer's past comes back to haunt him when someone hires people to kill him. Therefore, even their neighbors are turning against Spencer in hopes of making a large sum of money if they are able to kill him. I just couldn't take Ashton Kutcher's role seriously. In pretty much everything I've seen him in, it's a romantic comedy. It was hard for me to think of him as some awesome guy who could kill bad guys. So, most of the acting in this movie wasn't that fantastic. The storyline was insanely horrible, and most of it didn't even really make sense. I think it's safe to say that I'll never be watching this movie ever again.
I gave this movie 3/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Jane Austen Book Club movie review
June 10, 2010 - #26/100
The Jane Austen Book Club (2007)
Near the beginning of the movie, Sylvia's husband dumps her for another woman. So, Sylvia's two friends Bernadette and Jocelyn decide to organize a book club in hopes of keeping her mind occupied on other things. Bernadette manages to convince Sylvia's daughter Allegra to join the club, as well as a random woman named Prudie (Emily Blunt), who happens to be a young teacher. Jocelyn runs into a man named Grigg (Hugh Dancy), and he decides to join the book club, as well. It isn't until later on that we figure out that Grigg mostly joined in hopes of getting to know Jocelyn better. So, there are five women and one man, making six total. There are six Jane Austen novels. Therefore, the club decides to to read one novel each month, meet up, and discuss what they have read. Along with reading the novels, the viewer realizes complications amongst each person's life. For example, Prudie is thinking about cheating on her husband with one of her students, Jocelyn is oblivious to Grigg's attraction and instead focuses on trying to get Grigg and Sylvia to date, and Allegra is constantly having relationship issues. Can any of Jane Austen's wisdom from any of her six novels provide insightful advice to these five women and one man? If you aren't an avid fan of Jane Austen, then this movie can be very confusing to you. I, however, am and avid fan. Overall, I thought that the movie was pretty good. I especially enjoyed it near the end when they managed to use Austen's novel Persuasion and apply it to their real life situations. It shows that Austen's novels do actually provide insightful advice to its readers. The only thing that I didn't care for very much in this movie was Sylvia's daughter, Allegra. Her character got on my nerves. Other than that, I enjoyed watching this movie.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.
