Sleepover (2004)
It is the last day of school and Julie (Alexa Vega) is planning on throwing a sleepover party. She invites her friends Hannah, Farrah, and Yancy over for the party. Julie's mother gives her strict rules to stay in the house at all times. However, a popular girl arrives to the house and offers up a proposition. If Julie and the girls agree to do a scavenger hunt race against a group of popular girls, then the winners of the scavenger hunt win the coveted lunch spot at high school the next year. Finally, this is a chance for Julie and her friends to improve their social status if they are able to complete the challenge first. This movie was definitely a teen clique kind of movie. It's one of those that isn't really that great, but you can't help but to laugh at it's excruciatingly cheesy lines. I watched this movie right after I finished watching The Time Traveler's Wife because I needed a good laugh. The only good things about this movie were that Jane Lynch played Julie's mother and Steve Carell played a cop. So, if you by any chance enjoy watching a movie solely to laugh at the horrible acting and cheesy lines, then this one is for you.
I gave this movie 3/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Time Traveler's Wife movie review
May 30, 2010 - #21/100
The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
Clare Abshire (Rachel McAdams) comes across Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana) in the library. Since Henry has a genetic anomaly that allows him to travel in time, Clare is already aware of who Henry is, even though Henry hasn't yet gotten acquainted with Clare. So, they meet up later that night to have dinner, and Clare explains about how Henry's older self had visited her many times in the past when she was just a little girl. Because of this, Clare had fallen in love with him. She had known him practically her entire life. So, they end up getting married. But, Henry's time travel had a downside because he is unable to control the moment that he disappears, or even the destination of his voyages. So, it would seem that he comes and goes during the most inconvenient times. I had been wanting to see this movie for a while, and was actually surprised at how sad it is. It's definitely not a heart warming love story. In addition to the sadness, there were several parts during the movie that confused me. I had trouble understanding the plot, at times. Also, I know that time travel is a drastic point in this movie, but it would sometimes get on my nerves. I couldn't imagine having to live with someone that will sporadically disappear for two weeks at a time. But, I thought that it was overall good. The storyline was a bit weird, but at least it wasn't cliche.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs movie review
May 27, 2010 - #20/100
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)
The Ice Age story continues. Manny (Ray Romano) and Ellie (Queen Latifah) are mammoths, and Ellie is pregnant. Sid the sloth, who is a dear friend of Manny's, would like nothing more than to be a father. He stumbles upon what he thinks to be three unattended eggs. They hatch, and baby dinosaurs come out of them. For a day, Sid gets emotionally attached to them. But, the mother dinosaur comes looking for them, and ends up taking Sid back down below the sheets of ice and into an area where there are tons of dinosaurs. Manny, Ellie, and a few of the others follow the dinosaur in order to rescue their friend Sid. Along the way, they meet new creatures and new friends. Personally, I think that they should have stopped making the Ice Age movies after the first one. The first one was original and funny, but it would seem as if they have ruined it by trying to make sequels. Also, Queen Latifah's character, named Ellie, gets on my nerves. Ellie got on my nerves in Ice Age: The Meltdown, and she got on my nerves in this one, too. The film wasn't a total disaster. It seemed to be pretty action packed for a children's movie. So, it would probably be able to keep the attention span of a small child. But, it definitely wasn't as funny as the original Ice Age movie. Overall, it was decent, and it managed to keep my attention. But, it was no where near as good as the first one.
I gave this movie 5/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Lake House movie review
May 22, 2010 - #19/100
The Lake House (2006)
I have seen parts of this movie, but never in its entirety. It's 2006, and Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock) is moving out of the lake house and into another home in order to be closer to her job as a doctor in a nearby hospital. Rewind two years to 2004, and you will find Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) moving into the lake house. Kate and Alex correspond by writing to each other and sticking their letters in the mailbox located at the lake house. But, it's weird because Kate is in 2006 and Alex is in 2004. The movie never explains why this happens. It just does. So, they continue to write each other back and forth, stuck in different time periods. Alex ends up trying his best to do anything to finally be with Kate in the future. Sure, the plot is extremely random and unbelievable. But, it was a rather enjoyable movie. Well, I don't care much for Keanu Reeves at all. His acting just isn't that great, in my opinion. Sandra Bullock was wonderful, as always. The movie also offered a few surprise twists, which kept the story a bit refreshing and un-repetitive. If you like romantic movies, then this would probably be a good one to watch. But, if you over-analyze the time difference, then it will be hard to enjoy this movie.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Letters to Juliet movie review
May 16, 2010 - #18/100
Letters To Juliet (2010)
Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is engaged to a man named Victor. Before getting married, they plan a trip to Verona, Italy. It doesn't take the viewer long to realize that Victor is a self centered person who is only obsessed with his job. Therefore, he takes a trip without Sophie, leaving her behind in Verona. Upon sight seeing, Sophie runs into an area that is claimed to be Juliet's house. Many girls leave letters on the wall, asking what they should do about various love situations. Later that day, a woman takes all of the letters off the wall and puts them into a basket. Curious about what she is doing, Sophie follows. She discovers a group of women called the 'secretaries of Juliet,' who spend most of their time responding to the letters. The next day, Sophie finds a letter that had been hidden in the wall for 50 years. The letter describes a situation where a woman loved a man, but decided not to run away with him in fear of what her family would think. So, Sophie decides to write the woman back. A few days later, the woman named Claire shows up with her grandson named Charles. Thus beings the journey. Sophie, Claire, and Charles travel around Italy in search for Claire's 'romeo.' To begin with, Sophie and Charles can't stand each other. But, as time passes, it's easy to tell that the hatred is fading, and that they fall in love with each other. Sure, this is an extremely predictable movie from beginning to end. But, I thought that it was adorable. The scenery in the movie is absolutely gorgeous. It's not the greatest romantic movie in the world, but it's good. It was nice to sit in the movie theater and enjoy a romantic movie that was entertaining from beginning to end.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Being John Malkovich movie review
May 14, 2010 - #17/100
Being John Malkovich (1999)
Greg Schwartz (John Cusack) is an unemployed puppeteer, and is desperately looking for a job where he can actually make a decent amount of money. He ends up getting a job at this company where he basically files most of the time. While working, he stumbles across a portal that leads the person into John Malkovich's mind. The person can see through John's eyes, enabling him or her to be able to see exactly what John is doing at that precise moment. Greg's wife Lotte (Cameron Diaz) tries out the portal, and becomes obsessed with the experience. A fellow co-worker of Greg, named Maxine, becomes involved in the entire situation, as well. It's kind of hard to explain the plot of the story. But, Greg figures out how to overpower John in his own body, and attempts to continue living in it. Generally, I tend to enjoy movies that are slightly weird and unique. Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay for Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Adaptation. I love Eternal Sunshine and Adaptation, but I'm not so sure about Being John Malkovich. It was a little too unique for my liking. Even though I didn't really enjoy this movie like I thought I would, I still admire Charlie Kaufman for coming up with such an interesting storyline.

Lost In Austen movie review
May 13, 2010 - #16/100
Lost In Austen (2008)
Technically, this is a 4 part mini-series that first aired in England. But, it is a rather long series, so it was like watching a long movie. Therefore, I shall just consider this to be a movie since I spent at least 3 hours watching it. Amanda Price is absolutely obsessed with Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. She has seen the movies, and pretty much knows the book by heart. One night, Amanda plans on relaxing and reading Austen's magnificent novel, but her plans are drastically altered. There is this secret door in her bathroom that leads back to the Pride and Prejudice era, and Amanda ends up switching places with Austen's heroine Elizabeth Bennett. She is now stuck in her favorite novel. Hence, "Lost In Austen." But, there is a huge problem. None of the characters' personalities are what they appeared to be, and the heroine Elizabeth is now missing. Mr. Darcy falls in love with Amanda, Jane Bennett ends up marrying Mr. Collins instead of Mr. Bingley, etc. Everything has gone wrong, and Amanda feels obliged to fix everything. If you aren't familiar with Austen's novel, then this mini-series will be very confusing to you. I, however, am and avid Austen fan, and adored this mini-series. It was comical, romantic, and it kept my attention. Sure, the storyline is extremely far fetched, but the acting was really good, and it was entertaining to watch. Therefore, if you are a Pride and Prejudice fan, then I'd recommend watching this mini-series.
I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.

The Man Who Knew Too Little movie review
May 10, 2010 - #15/100
The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997)
Wallace "Wally" Ritchie (Bill Murray) is an American who travels to England to visit his brother James "Jimmy" Ritchie (Peter Gallagher). The visit is a surprise, and James had already planned an important dinner that night. Therefore, he decides to find something to keep his brother Wally occupied in order to keep him from ruining the evening. In England, there is currently a thing called "Theater of Life," which promises to treat the participant as a character in a crime drama. So, James decides to pay enough money for Wally to be a participant. But, something goes wrong and he ends up being involved in an actual plot to kill Russian dignitaries on the eve of the signing of an important peace agreement. Throughout the entire plot, Wally believes that it is the "Theater of Life" instead of reality. Therefore, he thinks that it's all an act. Bill Murray manages to be subtly funny, as always. His acting kept me entertained throughout the movie. But, I was a bit confused at times. For me, the most confusing part was near the beginning of the movie. It took a while for me to realize exactly what was going on. Perhaps if I watched it again, I would pick up on more major plot points. Overall, it was amusing, but it's the type of movie that you have to pay close attention to in order to even attempt to understand the plot. If you miss a few minutes of it, then you will be completely lost.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.

Fun With Dick and Jane movie review
May 9, 2010 - #14/100
Fun With Dick and Jane (2005)
Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) has just received a job promotion. Upon receiving the promotion, Dick tells his wife Jane (Tea Leoni) that she can quit her job and stay at home with their son since he will be making enough money to provide for the entire family. So, Jane quits her job. The same day that Jane quits her job, the business that Dick works for becomes bankrupt. The CEO of the company had managed to steal large amounts of money from the company. Therefore, Dick loses his job, along with all of the other employees. For several months, he attempts to find another job, but is unsuccessful in all of his attempts. Their house ends up being foreclosed, so they become extremely desperate for money. Therefore, they turn to armed robbery. In the end, they decide to steal back what the former CEO of the company had stolen from them. This film was somewhat good, but it wasn't as funny as I had expected it to be. It didn't really make me laugh out loud that much. At times, I felt that the acting was a bit over the top. Overall, this film kept me entertained for roughly an hour and a half, but I'm not sure if I'd ever watch it again. It's just one of those types of movies where, once you've seen it, you don't really care much about seeing it again.
I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.

Say Anything... movie review
May 3, 2010 - #13/100
Say Anything... (1989)
Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) has just graduated from high school, and would like nothing more than to date Diane Court (Ione Skye). Diane is an intelligently beautiful girl who has never even talked to Lloyd. Lloyd calls up Diane, and manages to get a date with her. Throughout the summer, they continue to hang out together. After the summer is over, Diane plans on moving to England to attend college while Lloyd has absolutely no future plans about life. He currently lives with his sister Constance (Joan Cusack), and is just living in the moment. The only two things that he cares about are kickboxing and Diane. However, Diane's father highly disapproves of Lloyd, and tries to convince Diane that she should be focusing on school rather than boys. So, due to school and personal issues with her father, Diane breaks up with Lloyd. Therefore, he ends up trying his best to get her back. After much pain and suffering, Lloyd successfully wins Diane back in the end. Personally, I love 80's movies, and I love John Cusack. So, I enjoyed this movie. I thought that it was cute, and the acting was really good. This isn't the greatest 80's movie, but it is still enjoyable and I definitely wouldn't mind watching this movie again.
I gave this movie 8/10 stars on imdb.com.

All of Me movie review
May 1, 2010 - #12/100
All of Me (1984)
Roger Cobb (Steve Martin) is an attorney that would like nothing more than to just be a jazz musician. He is tired of trying to defend rich stuck up people. Edwina Cutwater (Lily Tomlin) is one of those rich stuck up people, but she is about to die. Roger has to go to her house in order to work out Edwina's final will. Edwina has hired someone to get her soul and transfer it into another girl's body. This will enable her to live longer and to be able to actually enjoy life, for once. But, of course, something goes wrong. Edwina's soul ends up inhabiting Roger's body. Edwina has control over Roger's right side of his body, while Roger has control over the left side of his body. Sure, the movie has an entirely random and impossible plot. It is extremely far fetched. But, movies don't have to be realistic in order for a person to enjoy them. That's the beauty of movies. This movie kept me entertained from beginning to end. It was absolutely hilarious watching Steve Martin act like a woman with the right side of his body, and a man with the left side of his body. He made it seem believable. Imagine his situation when attempting to use the restroom, walk around, play the guitar, have sex, etc. He had to try to do all of those things while acting like a man and a woman at the same time. This isn't one of the best comedies of all time, but it was entertaining to watch.
I gave this movie 7/10 stars on imdb.com.
