Lost In Austen movie review

May 13, 2010 - #16/100
Lost In Austen (2008)

Technically, this is a 4 part mini-series that first aired in England. But, it is a rather long series, so it was like watching a long movie. Therefore, I shall just consider this to be a movie since I spent at least 3 hours watching it. Amanda Price is absolutely obsessed with Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. She has seen the movies, and pretty much knows the book by heart. One night, Amanda plans on relaxing and reading Austen's magnificent novel, but her plans are drastically altered. There is this secret door in her bathroom that leads back to the Pride and Prejudice era, and Amanda ends up switching places with Austen's heroine Elizabeth Bennett. She is now stuck in her favorite novel. Hence, "Lost In Austen." But, there is a huge problem. None of the characters' personalities are what they appeared to be, and the heroine Elizabeth is now missing. Mr. Darcy falls in love with Amanda, Jane Bennett ends up marrying Mr. Collins instead of Mr. Bingley, etc. Everything has gone wrong, and Amanda feels obliged to fix everything. If you aren't familiar with Austen's novel, then this mini-series will be very confusing to you. I, however, am and avid Austen fan, and adored this mini-series. It was comical, romantic, and it kept my attention. Sure, the storyline is extremely far fetched, but the acting was really good, and it was entertaining to watch. Therefore, if you are a Pride and Prejudice fan, then I'd recommend watching this mini-series.

I gave this movie 10/10 stars on imdb.com.
