Where the Wild Things Are movie review

September 11, 2010 - #62/100
Where the Wild Things Are (2009)

An adolescent named Max (Max Records) has an active imagination, and he will throw fits if others don't go along with what he wants. Max runs away from home after an incident with his sister Claire and her friends, and a tantrum that he throws as a result of his mother paying more attention to her boyfriend than to him. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination. This world, an ocean away, is inhabited by large wild beasts, including one named Carol who is much like Max himself in temperament. Instead of eating Max like they normally would with creatures of his type, the wild things befriend Max after he proclaims himself a king who can magically solve all their problems. Wow. So, I really didn't like this movie, at all. I thought that it was extremely weird and boring. Max's character got on my nerves because he was such a brat, and the world that he imagined was extremely weird. I think it's safe to say that I'll never watch this movie again.

I gave this movie 3/10 stars on imdb.com.
