Run, Fat Boy, Run movie review

July 19, 2010 - #41/100
Run, Fat Boy, Run (2008)

Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) is well known for never being able to finish anything that he has ever started. In the beginning of the movie, it is his wedding day. His fiance Elizabeth 'Libby' Odell (Thandie Newton) is pregnant. It's obvious to tell that Dennis is extremely nervous about the huge commitment of becoming married and being a father all at once. Therefore, he runs. Fast forward to five years later, and Dennis is a single, slightly overweight man. Every time Libby brings their child over so he can spend some time with his father, Dennis tries to convince her to take him back. He's realized that he has made a mistake, but he's too late. Libby is dating a man named Whit, who is an active runner in many various marathons. Therefore, Dennis decides to prove everyone wrong by deciding to run a marathon in hopes of finally being able to finish something for the first time in his life. Just a few days before the race, Whit proposes to Libby, and she accepts. With a little help from his friends, Dennis is encouraged to still participate in the race in hopes of winning his family back. Personally, before viewing this movie, I had anticipated it being a lot more funny and entertaining. But, it didn't really make me laugh that much. I mean, it was good, but it wasn't as good as I had expected. Overall, this is just a predictable comedy.

I gave this movie 6/10 stars on imdb.com.
